Leopard shark? Zebra shark? Although some might be undecided what to call this species, one thing we can all agree on is how beautiful they are! Maybe this name change comes because as juveniles these sharks have distinct black and white stripes. Slowly, as they mature, the stripes fade to spots and the black and white gives way to a sandy tan color, like this one photographed.

This image holds a special place in my heart because it was taken on my very first trip to Julian Rocks. This is a site I have have always had high on my bucket list for Australian diving, so finally being able to snorkel out there with countless leopard sharks was a dream come true.
