Location: Sheraton Caverns, Kauai, Hawaii
You might be asking yourself why this animal is called a Green Sea Turtle when the shell is more of a brown color. Well this is because they are named for the greenish color of their fat, not their shells! They are one of the longest-living marine animals, often reaching up to 80 years old in the wild. Maybe this is why in so many cultures they are considered symbols of longevity and wisdom.
The turtle, or Honu in Hawaiian, are commonly found in all islands but especially around Kauai. Some of the turtles there reach lengths of over one meter and 160kgs!
